Inside the Ford Focus Electric assembly line. Recently I hit the floor of the Ford Focus assembly plant in Dearborn, Michigan. Ford held a press event on Wednesday, December 15th for the Focus Electric, C-Max Energi and C-Max Hybrid four-door machines. As luck would have it, members of the press were invited to experience a behind the scenes taste of the new Focus Electric being tossed together. We hit various stops on our way through the plant, honing in on the technology of the Focus Electric's 23kWh dual lithium-ion batteries. However, got a chance to experience a conveyor belt-propelled drivetrain buffet, accordion wheel car and giant spiraling tire slide. One of my favorite parts of the tour was the dashing ensemble that I was required to wear, complete with safety glasses and a neon yellow safety vest.
